Birthday Surprise for Thomas

It had been a well-kept secret of Jack's for months. He'd dug out his old uniform, and bought a pair of tear-away pants to make sure his uniform didn't get ruined. He was both excited and nervous, but it was for a really good cause. Thomas deserved the best birthday possible.

He'd left him a message, telling him to take a seat and wait. But the uniform bit would be a surprise. When it was time, he stepped into the house.

"So here you are, Mr. Barrow. You've been a very hard man to catch," he said in his most professional voice, biting back the smirk. "The chase has been fun, I must admit."

Jack's already doing a little dance with his hips as he approaches his handsome husband. It's been a while since he's danced, but it's coming back to him little by little.

Thomas started laughing, the kisses tickling as well being the perfect distraction from worrying thoughts about Jack's job.

"Jack..." He laughed again, no attempt at trying to stop him.

"Yes, darling?" Jack said with an innocent smile, continuing the kisses. He loved the sound of Thomas's laughter. That genuine happiness.

Thomas gently slapped Jack's arm. It really wasn't a slap, he'd probably put his hand harder on Jack's arm grabbing him earlier in the night in their passion.

"You're awful." He gasped as he laughed even harder. Free from any worries outside their door. "How long before my birthday is over?" He looked for the clock to try and work it out.

"Twenty more minutes. But we can celebrate all week if we want to."

He rested his chin on Thomas's shoulder just looking at him for a moment. He looked so gorgeous as always.

"I'm okay with twenty more minutes." He smiled, looking at Jack without moving his head. "Makes it more special the time we had." He didn't want to make those excellent memories anything less than they were.

"Twenty minutes, it is." He smiled back, kissing his husband's neck a few times before nuzzling it. "It's been another special day." With Thomas everything was special.

"Every day we have is special." Thomas told him. Feeling the same way. "It's that we have some like this and others we read a book." He gave a very contended sigh. Happy and not stopping Jack that time.

"That's right, darling. Every day is special." Jack murmured into Thomas's skin, breathing him in while hugging him close. The happiness was so very mutual.

Thomas smiled, saying nothing then, comfortable with his silence. But gently running his fingers through Jack's hair. He had learned how precious it was and he wasn't going to lose it now.

He let out a happy sound as Thomas played with his hair. It helped him relax and made him a little sleepy, too. He'd protect their love with everything he had.

"This is what it feels like to be happy," he whispered, holding Thomas a little closer.

"It's the best feeling." He snuggled into Jack's hold as he started humming, quietly.

"It truly is," Jack agreed, listening to his husband humming. He loved his voice so much. He caressed his skin anywhere he could reach, touching him lovingly.

Thomas nodded as he kept humming, a song that Jack sung sometimes. Thomas preferred Jack's singing to his own but humming... well that he could do.

He ran his fingers across Jack's arm.

Jack smiled as he recognized the song, enjoying the feel of Thomas's fingers caressing him. It was paradise to Jack. Their special place.

Thomas kept humming. Leaning into Jack, glad that he recognised the song.

He glanced at the clock, seeing that it had passed midnight then.

He turned and leaned to kiss Jack on the cheek. "Thank you for another perfect day."

"You are so welcome, darling. Only the best for the best man I've ever known."

He kissed Thomas's chest and got more comfortable, letting out a yawn as sleepiness began to set in. "What a fun day."

"Oh I think you are." Thomas pulled a blanket over them both, tucking it in where he could. "Shh love, get some sleep now. I'll make breakfast for us in the morning."

"That sounds lovely. Breakfast with my handsome husband," Jack murmured in a sleepy voice, snuggling into that warm, lovely chest. "I love you.. Goodnight."

"Love you too." Thomas kissed the top of Jack's hair. The sound of Jack's breathing lulling him to sleep as well. "Night." He mumbled as he started to drift off to sleep.
