It had been another long but productive day at the station, and Jack was more than ready to unwind and spend time with his love. He was all smiles during the drive home and, sure enough, he found Thomas in the garden. Working hard, as usual. He stood there for a moment, watching the man he'd fallen so deeply for, until finally he approached him.

"It looks great here." He wrapped his arms around Thomas' waist from behind and kissed his cheek.

Jack smiled again, the feel of Thomas' lips against his skin sending a surge of warmth through his body. He did amazing things to him. "You're right. It should be given that respect."

Those people were more than worthy of the trust. He was so happy to see them embrace Thomas so quickly.

"That's a great idea, darling."

"I'm honoured that you've given this to me. It means the world to me. But them I've already followed you around half of it." He smiled, the smile that reflected in his eyes and he was happy. Nothing was taking that away from him.

"What do you think about it?"

"I'm glad you could come with me." That happiness on Thomas' face was enough to let him know that this was right. He was so happy, too.

"I think that the ring is exactly where it belongs now. You're my husband and I love you more than anything. It's a secret I'm more than willing to protect from those who would judge us. I'll protect you." He kissed him softly and hugged him close.

Thomas held Jack as he was being held. Everything that Jack had said he couldn't dispute.

"I love you too." He mumbled against Jack's lips as he kissed him again. "I'll protect you as well. Because I want to be the one who looks after you."

"I'm in the best hands." Jack cupped Thomas' cheek. "There's no hesitation here.. We can do what we want now." He happily kept kissing Thomas while hugging him. This was his favorite place in the world.

"So am I. I know the best police officer." Thomas just held Jack, enjoying the kisses they were sharing. He couldn't think of a better place to be. This was home.

This was home.

"And this police officer will do anything for you."

He'd be there in a heartbeat if Thomas was in danger. There were some shady characters in the city.

He kissed him again and again.

"I know." Thomas felt lucky. The luckiest now. "I'm safe with you."

If anything happened to Jack he knew the people to ask for help. He listened to everything Jack said so he'd learned that. "While I'm not a police officer I have Hugh and Miss Fisher to help me."

"Safe and satisfied," Jack smirked playfully.

It was a huge burden off his shoulders to know that Thomas had people to help him and look after him if Jack ever got injured during a case. He'd hate for him to be alone and worry.

"You're quite capable and observant. You could be my assistant detective." He loved the idea of them working together to figure some cases out.

"I like the sound of that. Unofficial assistant detective." He laughed quietly. He would never have thought himself doing that before, being a detective... but he'd never had such a love in his life either.

He'd help Jack where he could regardless.

"Detective Barrow. Sounds really good." Jack chuckled fondly. They made an excellent team. Thomas' point of view had helped on a few occasions already. Jack was able to look at things from a different angle.

"The most handsome detective."

"Of course, to go along with the most handsome detective inspector." Thomas laughed as well, leaning on Jack again. "I mean you could call me partner that way right? In a work capacity and no one could say a thing about it."

"Indeed I could. My partner," Jack said with a wink. He loved calling him that, especially when it held such a special meaning.

"We could have some fun with that at home, too."

"Are you planning on arresting me?" He asked curiously with a certain edge to it that made it more mischievous. "You'll have to bring handcuffs, I put up quite a fight."

[jrobinson]

"You're a bad one, hm? I'll have to cuff you and do a thorough interrogation." Jack said in his detective tone, biting back the smile. "You should know I leave no stone unturned."

"Oh the things I've done I'd definitely need those." Thomas shivered at hearing the tone Jack took with the idea if being cuffed and interrogated. He knew Jack would make that a very good experience for him doing that.

"I need to confess to some crimes." He tok was trying not to sound so thrilled and excited for the experience.

"I do respect the honesty. And I promise I will get to the bottom of things." The idea of it all was getting Jack excited, too. He'd be sure to make it a good experience for Thomas.

"You've been quite the tricky one to track down." Jack smirked, gently running his fingers along Thomas' cheek.

"Well I'm glad I proved a challenge for you." He smiled at Jack's gentle touch. "Jack..." He said softly. "I just want to be with you tonight."

"Of course, Thomas." Jack agreed easily, completely smitten as he saw that smile. "We can just be tonight and enjoy each other's company."

"Thank you." Thomas felt more love for Jack that he actually listened to what Thomas wanted. He did of course the same in return for Jack. It definitely helped with making Thomas feel safe with their relationship and knowing he'd made the right choice.

He kissed Jack rather chastely on the cheek.

"Of course," Jack smiled, holding his lover close. They'd built a strong trust and communication, which was so important. Thomas was so attentive and considerate.

"Remember our first kiss? The gentleness, the affection. How you stopped me from getting all nervous." It had given Jack the butterflies.

"Of course." Thomas couldn't forget it. Just like he couldn't forget the first time he saw Jack. Which was a little awkward as it was rather crowded with other people at the time. Then over dinner which had been awkward as well but worth it.

Thomas wouldn't have changed it.

"I remember when the door opened and you were there." He rested his head on Jack again.

"It didn't take long for our eyes to meet. I couldn't stop thinking to myself how attractive you are.. All those stolen glances."

He'd always cherish that day, too. It was the best surprise to meet the love of his life during a visit like that.

"The way you looked at me, I'll never forget it either." It sent a pleasant surge through him, being appreciated like that.

"I remember nearly dropping a glass because of one of those looks." Thomas had hated that. He didn't do things like that. Jack changed that a little but at first he still wasn't sure if it was what he had hoped or just that he was a suspect.

He put a hand on Jack's chest. "I don't think we were subtle." Good job he knew the family didn't bother with him that for him.

"I apologize for nearly causing such an accident and bringing trouble to you." He placed a hand on Thomas', holding it there.

"It's difficult to remain calm when a sexy butler was eyeing me like that," he grinned, kissing his husband's hand.
