It had been another long but productive day at the station, and Jack was more than ready to unwind and spend time with his love. He was all smiles during the drive home and, sure enough, he found Thomas in the garden. Working hard, as usual. He stood there for a moment, watching the man he'd fallen so deeply for, until finally he approached him.

"It looks great here." He wrapped his arms around Thomas' waist from behind and kissed his cheek.

Thomas had heard the car approaching, but kept working on the garden. Smiling a little more to himself as he knew Jack would be home and he'd soon be swept away from the war with the insects he'd been raging that day.

He turned his head to make it easier for Jack's kiss then turned completely to face him. Their garden. Not overlooked, they could do this without worry.

"Thank you." He rested his head against Jack's. "You've got to tell me all about your day."

Jack was grateful for the privacy because he didn't want to hide his love for Thomas. He kissed him softly a few times, smiling as he pulled back. "We found the missing girl. Safe and sound. Turns out she just had a nasty row with her stepmom and ran off."

He held his lover's hands in his. "What about you?"

"Oh." Thomas looked relieved that Jack had got a happy (or at least the better) ending for that case. He hated to see Jack worrying over things like that. He knew he couldn't do anything that was the nature of Jack's job after all. But he could be there to support him. "Oh that is a relief to hear." And he meant it. He'd heard too many stories go the other way in London.

He turned one of Jack's hands over. "I've been fighting a very vicious war for our tomatoes, amongst the other vegetables that those insects." He didn't discriminate, they were probably different ones going after the different vegetables he thought. "Have been after." He'd tried a few things and was currently regrouping to try some more.

"They're for us, I'm not growing all this for them to eat!" The garden had been something Thomas had quickly found a passion for while Jack was at work.

"Yeah.. No more worrying. I'm glad she's safe.. These cases don't always have happy endings." He had seen too many cases of the opposite and it really took its toll sometimes.

Jack looked at the tomatoes and back at Thomas. "How dare they attack our food?" He shook his head. "Do I have to use my authority with you pests?"

He was happy to see him find a passion so quickly, and make himself at home in this new country.

Thomas took a hand from Jack's touch and put it to Jack's cheek. "This one did. Enjoy it." He wanted to reassure Jack that he was there regardless of the outcome but happy for his love that it was the best of them.

He smiled, then started laughing. Jack being silly about Thomas's war made it easier to deal with. "I would like to see you shouting at them." Which was ridiculous and made Thomas smile even more. "But I fear our plants may think you were talking to them and get the wrong idea."

He looked back at Jack. "You could just use that authority with me."

"I will. I'm home now and it's time to relax with my gorgeous boyfriend." He leaned into Thomas' hand, nuzzling his palm before kissing it.

"That's true. I'd hate to scare the poor buggers and ruin all your hard work." The image certainly was amusing. The famed Detective Inspector shouting at some bugs. Then Thomas said that and the look on his face turned into a smirk. "Come, Thomas. Take a bath with me. That's an order." He used that tone, the one he knew Thomas liked.

Thomas shook his head at Jack's affectionate gesture. He loved it really.

He watched Jack's expression change. Just as he had hoped it would with those words. "Certainly, sir." He picked up the spade to leave it by the door as they went inside. "Can't ignore an order from a police inspector."

He did stop at the bottom of the staircase to turn and wrap his arms around Jack's neck to kiss him again properly. With more passion than they had outside now they were in the privacy of their home.

"Good." Jack loved taking baths together. Holding Thomas while gently washing and touching him, and the intimacy of it all.

He let out a soft noise into the kiss, returning it with equal passion. He could kiss Thomas for hours.

"And it is pretty sexy when you call me 'sir'," he smirked, taking his love's hand to lead him to the bathroom where he began to prepare the bath.

Thomas smiled, slight smug and knowing because he did know that Jack liked when he called him sir, the first time was a genuine mistake. There were no more mistakes with it since. He knew when to use it to best advantage.

He followed after Jack quite content. "I love when you look after me."

He'd never had something like this. Such a strong connection to someone that felt so right. No hurt, no uncertainty.

With Thomas, he found it so easy to discover new and exciting things. Things they both liked.

"I love looking after you." He kissed him again while waiting for the bath to be ready.

Thomas felt it easy to let himself relax with Jack, after so long at Downton it was a different life comple tely for him but it was never a bad one.

Thomas stood closer to Jack, resting a hand on Jack's shoulder after they kissed. When Thomas started to help Jack undress there was no rush like their first time together. It was slow and careful, he carefully placed each of their clothes to hang up so they were safe. His a little separate because he didn't want the dirt of Jack's cleaner suit.

Taking glances where he could to admire Jack and marvel at the realisation that this man wasn't going anywhere and loved him like Thomas loved him.

He had noticed Thomas start to relax more and settle into this new life of theirs, and it made him so happy.

Jack couldn't stop smiling as he was undressed. Thomas was so careful and loving with it, the look in his eyes making it even better. Once Thomas stood in front of him again, Jack placed Thomas' hand on his chest to let him feel his heart.

"That's all yours now, darling. I'm not going anywhere." He kissed him slowly while undressing him. "I love you, Thomas Barrow."

Thomas looked like he was going to say something at that but instead just let Jack undress him as he'd only moments ago done.

It was getting easier to accept that Jack wasn't going anywhere. He smiled, a little redness at hearing Jack say he loved him like that still. "I love you too Jack Robinson."

He reached to turn the water off fornthe bath. "Will you join me?" He asked a little coyly.

Jack couldn't help but stare at his lover's naked body. He looked so good all over and he felt like pinching himself to make sure it wasn't just a dream.

"Absolutely. It's always better together." He climbed into the tub and held out a hand for Thomas. "The water's perfect."

Thomas was looking at Jack appreciatively as well. After everything he wasn't sure how he'd got lucky with Jack. He took his glove off as the last thing he had to do. He'd have kept it on if he could but he knew it wasn't practical.

"Always." He smiled as he took Jack's hand and stepped into the tub to settle in the water with Jack. "Everything is perfect."

He couldn't take his eyes off Thomas as he stepped into the tub. He couldn't wait to hold him and kiss him. It felt like paradise with Thomas, every single day.

"It is. All the pieces fell into place." Jack smiled while gently beginning to wash Thomas, helping him rid of all the garden dirt.

Thomas leaned to Jack's touches he helped clean him up from the garden. He'd do it all over again the next day and it was a comfort.

"You know I only get extra dirty working in the garden because this is my reward." He smiled, reaching to hold Jack's other hand. It wasn't the only reason. Thomas enjoyed knowing there was fresh food he could cook with for them both. "I can help you when you're done." Because he wanted to touch Jack more.

"Is that so? Well, I'm happy to do this for you whenever." He held Thomas' hand with a fond smile, giving it a soft kiss. Thomas was an incredible cook and he looked forward to tasting more of his creations.

"I'd like that." He missed having Thomas' hands on him. He was so amazing with his touches.

"I know. But I feel this way is better because it's after hard work." He couldn't help some things didn't change.

He has some of Mrs Patmore's recipes from his letters which he could try. He'd sent her his thanks for them.

"I'd like it too." He leaned to kiss Jack.

"It really is. Helping you relax after a hard day's work is a pleasure." He liked being able to look after Thomas after he'd done the same for him for so long.

Jack had grown fond of Mrs. Patmore. He'd never forget what she said to him, about how he made Thomas happy.

"We have all the time in the world now, love." He returned the kiss.

"And I'm there for you after yours."

Even more so when things didn't go the way he always hoped they would. Thomas supported Jack without hesitating. He took the cloth from Jack. "Let me help you now." Soft, slow, caring touches across Jack's chest.

He savored the kiss. He always did. He gave a happy sigh as he moved. His back to Jack's chest. Resting his long healed hand out over the side as he closed his eyes a moment just listening ot Jack's breathing.

"It's helped in more ways than I can express. Some days really are tougher than others." He appreciated Thomas' support. Being a Detective Inspector took its toll sometimes. "Yes please." He sighed softly as Thomas ran the cloth on his chest, a fond smile on Jack's face.

His fingers danced along Thomas' arm while he planted light kisses beneath his ear and on his shoulder.

"This is the best view anyone could ask for," he murmured near Thomas' ear.

It was those days when it was the other way around, even if Thomas' was working in the garden, their positions were reversed. Thomas had his arms around Jack and he would hold him. He liked doing that but Thomas also liked this way as well. Feeling Jack's muscles against his back and safe in his arms. Being in love with a policeman, detective inspector, definitely had perks.

He turned his hand over and caught Jack's hand, threading their fingers together. Leaning his head back against Jack's shoulder. Then he glanced at Jack with a little smile. Finally moving their hands back into the water, resting on Thomas' leg.

Thomas had kept Jack sane on so many nights, helping him forget about the horrors of the job. He appreciated him so much, and he really appreciated the gorgeous figure of Thomas and how good it felt to hold him. He'd be happy to stay in shape for his eyes and hands and lips to enjoy.

He smiled back while caressing his lover's leg, his gaze turning a bit darker. "I could help you relax even more."

Thomas would do the same with Jack and tending the garden was the perfect way to do that. Also was going to the beach with Jack. It was something different than back in England. It was warm and little chance of rain at the times they went so swimming in the sea was enjoyable not a dare.

He turned his head to look at Jack, his eyes dark with the desire for his love. "Touch me Jack."
