This was just playful for Jack, too. He'd never really treat Thomas like he wasn't equal.

Thomas didn't make a joke about the wife coming back, because he knew what had happened with Jack and his ex wife. Thomas was thankful she was his ex wife but that was as far as that went. And he certainly didn't want to upset Jack with dragging things like that up.
